Rai fee exemption, what is it?

Citizens aged 75 or over, with certain economic requirements, can be exempted from paying the Rai Fee. These people will not be charged monthly fees on the bills for the supply of electricity.

Requirements

The income threshold of citizens aged 75 and over within to benefit from the exemption is 8,000 euros. By “income” is meant that of the applicant plus that of the spouse or of the civilly united person.

The concession is valid for the entire year if the 75th birthday is completed by January 31st of the same year. If the 75th birthday took place from 1st February to 31st July of the year, the benefit is due for the second semester.

It should also be specified that the exemption applies only to the TV set or sets which are located in the home of residence, not for those owned in other homes.

Rai fee exemption: how to get it?

Once the application with PWS has been submitted, it is always valid also for subsequent annuities, so it must not be resubmitted every year if the exemption conditions remain unchanged. If, on the other hand, the requirements indicated in the substitutive declaration are lost (for example because the expected income limit is exceeded), it is necessary to submit a declaration of variation of the conditions.
